Thank You For Proving That I Would Get My Ideal Job Connaught. What they will do is something you will never get from any recruitment agency, or Job Centre, and that’s give you an absolute ability to believe in yourself. I thought it was about time that I got round to sending you a note to say a big “thank you” for all the help you gave me last year. Apologies for the delay, but things have been quite hectic since I started work in October. Next week, in fact, I’m heading down to South Africa and two weeks after that will be off to Nigeria. It’s all go…. work, work work!! Do you remember in our first meeting, you asked me what my ideal job would be? And I said I didn’t know what the job would be, but it would be with an airline? And you wrote it down. That was April 10th. I was amazed when you showed me that piece of paper in October, but was quietly chuffed to bits that it had come to fruition. But I digress….. What I wanted to say was thank you for the support, the encouragement and the ever ready listening ear (I know my stories could be interminably long). Thank you for convincing me that I was marketable, and that I did have skills and talent. Thank you for proving that I would get my ideal job. If you are reading this, then no doubt you are in the position I was in last year. You’re wondering just what you’re going to get my spending a lot of money on a program that – in the end – has no guarantees. There’s not even a diploma! Connaught. What they will do is something you will never get from any recruitment agency, or Job Centre, and that’s give you an absolute ability to believe in yourself. Have faith in yourself. Make the most of yourself. Sure – there are (very good) practical tips on job seeking, and (eye-opening) interview practice and so on. Skills that you will benefit from for ever. But to me, they are almost incidental benefits. What I appreciated was complete attention to my problem. I felt like I was the only pupil in school. Which is no mean feat with someone like me, who is famously upbeat, hugely cynical and difficult to impress! But Connaught managed…..well done! Being serious though, I did look forward to our meetings as I knew that I would leave feeling two feet taller and able to take on the world. And that’s exactly what I did. Thanks again.
