Preparation is the key to achievement here. Do not go to the interview thinking the interviewer knows exactly what they want out of the interview and will therefore ask the most appropriate questions.
  Remember that the interviewer will control the flow of the process but you can control the content. The interviewer is just as interested as you in developing rapport and so will pick up on what you say. The interview is primarily a marketing and sales exercise with you as the product.
  It is worth bearing in mind that you will only be invited to interview if the interviewer thinks you can potentially do the job. However, it is easy to destroy any advantage that you may have if you fail to prepare adequately.
